Decadent Cadbury Creme Egg Pull Apart Sweet Rolls: Your Ultimate Spring Treat Recipe
Spring is in the air, and for many of us, that means the joyous return of one of the most iconic seasonal confections: Cadbury Creme Eggs! While these delightful chocolate eggs with their distinctive fondant filling are delicious on their own, why not transform them into an even more extraordinary treat? Today, we’re diving into the world of homemade baking with a recipe for incredibly delicious **Cadbury Creme Egg Pull Apart Sweet Rolls**. These aren’t just any rolls; they’re a fun, interactive, and utterly decadent creation that perfectly captures the spirit of the season.

Truth be told, photos barely do justice to the whimsical charm and irresistible taste of these sweet rolls. Imagine a delightful monkey bread muffin, but crafted from a tender, yeasted dough akin to classic cinnamon rolls, albeit without the cinnamon. Each piece is infused with the creamy, sweet essence of a Cadbury Creme Egg, creating a truly unique flavor experience. This recipe began as a simple experiment, but the result was something so much more delicious than I could have imagined. And what better way to celebrate springtime than with the iconic Cadbury Creme Egg?
The Sweet Inspiration: From Nutella Rolls to Creme Egg Dreams
The journey to these delightful Cadbury Creme Egg Pull Apart Sweet Rolls began with a chance encounter with some truly mesmerizing Nutella Rolls. A colleague at work shared one with me, and I was utterly captivated by its unique, pull-apart appearance. The intricate design left me stumped; I had no idea how it was assembled, and the baker wasn’t available to spill the secrets. My online search attempts proved futile, as I simply didn’t know the right terms to describe what I had eaten.

Then, as fate would have it, I logged into Pinterest, and there they were: the very same Nutella Rolls I had enjoyed just hours before! The mystery was solved. The recipe I found online, however, called for canned biscuit dough. While convenient, I immediately knew I wanted to elevate the concept. My vision was to create a truly homemade version, crafting the dough from scratch. Moreover, I desired a softer, sweeter dough, distinct from the more savory profile of traditional biscuits. This ambition, coupled with the daily hustle, unfortunately, pushed the idea further down my priority list, almost becoming a forgotten culinary dream.
Why Cadbury Creme Eggs? A Springtime Obsession
Just as the Nutella roll idea began to fade, my thoughts turned to another seasonal favorite: Cadbury Creme Eggs. Every spring, I find myself brainstorming new and exciting ways to incorporate these beloved treats into my baking. I’ve had great success with past creations, including a luscious Cadbury Creme Egg Milkshake, adorable Cadbury Creme Egg Cupcakes, a delightful Cadbury Egg Ice Cream, and incredibly chewy Cadbury Egg Cookies. The challenge, however, is to create something truly unique.
I considered brownies, but a quick search for “creme egg brownies” reveals countless variations already flooding the internet. I wanted something fresh, something that hadn’t been overdone. That’s when the forgotten Nutella roll concept resurfaced, but with a twist. What if, instead of the hazelnut spread, I filled the sweet dough with the iconic fondant cream from the Cadbury Creme Eggs, then sprinkled chopped chocolate pieces from the egg on top? The idea clicked – it was the perfect fusion of my homemade dough ambition and my springtime Cadbury obsession.
Crafting the Rolls: A Little Mess, a Lot of Flavor

Admittedly, working with the gooey fondant and delicate chocolate shells of Cadbury Creme Eggs can be a bit messy. But that’s part of the fun! The anticipation of seeing how these unique rolls would turn out fueled my excitement. The dough itself, based on a classic sweet roll recipe, isn’t overly sweet on its own. It’s much like the foundation of a cinnamon roll, but without the rich, sugary filling of cinnamon and brown sugar. This provides the perfect canvas for the intense sweetness of the Cadbury Creme Eggs.
The magic truly happens when the rolls bake, allowing the creme egg filling to melt and meld into the soft dough. And for those who believe there’s no such thing as too much sweetness, a simple yet irresistible glaze is drizzled generously over the top of each roll. This final touch not only adds a beautiful sheen but also ensures every bite is a delightful explosion of sugary bliss, perhaps even sending you into the most wonderful kind of sugar coma!
A Unique Springtime Baking Experience

I understand that these Cadbury Creme Egg Pull Apart Sweet Rolls might look a little unconventional, perhaps even a bit “weird” to some. But rest assured, their unique appearance is part of their charm, and their taste is absolutely incredible. More importantly, you’d be hard-pressed to find a recipe quite like this anywhere else! This is a truly original creation that combines the comforting familiarity of a sweet roll with the delightful surprise of a Cadbury Creme Egg.
Tips for Perfect Pull Apart Sweet Rolls
- Yeast Activation: Ensure your milk and water are at the correct temperature (105-115°F / 40-46°C). Too hot will kill the yeast, too cold won’t activate it. A kitchen thermometer is your best friend here.
- Kneading: Don’t skimp on kneading! This develops the gluten, making your rolls wonderfully soft and elastic. If using a stand mixer, check the dough frequently. It should be smooth and springy. If it’s too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time.
- Proofing: A warm, draft-free place is crucial for the dough to rise properly. If your kitchen is cool, you can turn your oven on for a few minutes, then turn it off and let the dough rise inside (with the oven off!).
- Handling Creme Eggs: Cadbury Creme Eggs can be a bit fragile. Chilling them briefly before cutting can help minimize mess. Be gentle when spreading the fondant cream.
- Assembly: When rolling the dough squares, try to roll them tightly to keep the filling secure. Placing them cut-side up in the muffin cups helps create that beautiful, layered, pull-apart texture.
- Don’t Overbake: Keep an eye on the rolls during the last few minutes of baking. You want them golden brown, but not dry. Overbaking can lead to tough rolls.
- Cooling: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before glazing. This prevents the glaze from melting entirely and ensures a nice coating.

- 10 Cadbury Creme Eggs
Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- Few drops of vanilla
Instructions
For the dough:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, and yeast. Beat in the butter, milk, and water then beat in the egg. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until a dough forms.

- Have an ungreased muffin pan ready.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a 12×15 inch rectangle. Cut the dough into 3-inch squares. Cut open one of the creme eggs and spread about half of the cream onto one square. Cut up one chocolate egg half and add on top of the creme. Tightly roll up the dough and cut in half. Place each half, cut side up, into one of the muffin cups. Repeat with the remaining squares. Each muffin cup should have 3 rolled-up dough pieces. If you have any pieces left over, you can have 4 in a cup.
- Cover the pan and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350F. Bake for 20-22 minutes or until rolls are brown on top. Let cool completely.

- In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle on top of rolls.
Notes
*You can use a stand mixer with a dough hook for the kneading. You may need to sprinkle in a tablespoon or two of flour if the dough is still sticky after a few minutes.
